professionals say that the heat of your hands ruins the foundation so it doesn't stay on as long . if you press on with sponge rather than wipe or rub that will build up layers ! also set it with face powder to hold for longer

  • If you use a makeup sponge, you will have much more even coverage than by using your fingers. Fingers are not great tools to use on your face as they can carry oils and bacteria on them.. Have you ever tried using a mineral based makeup? I find that the coverage is better and has a much lighter & airy feeling. Normally, you would need to use a brush, but I do have a friend that applies hers with a makeup sponge instead and has the same great results!
  • A sponge is better, because using your fingers transfers all the dirt and oil from your fingers to your face which causes more spots, which means more spots that need covering up. A sponge can also mean that you get less streaks or finger marks on your face.

  • i would use both, but i use your fingers first to make sure the coverage is absolutely there, then lightly dab on the area where you put the foundation/concealer, so it makes it look more matte (for a more natural look).
  • using finger will make it easier to concentration on the application. however, sponge will do the job too, and it will give much even coverage, cleaner, and look airbrused. so... id say sponge.
  • I find both give me pretty much the same coverage.

I find using my finger makes it look a little more natural whereas using a sponge creates a more polished, matte look.
  • fingers-you can apply it much evenly in small areas
  • fingers, sponges are worse.
not only do they suck up the foundation but they carry A LOT of bacteria.
  • I'd go for a small sponge...

(But really a nice quality brush would be better still ;D)
  • i use a q tip.
