How can i stop this mascara from smudging?

Resolved Question

How can i stop this mascara from smudging?

I brought this mascara...really expensive like £18.50 from givency and its the phenomeon eyes one...but it keeps smudging under my eyebrows with lines...like eyelash lines...its really annoying, what can i do?

Thankss x

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

it's because you're not letting it dry and are putting too much on.
when you do this, and blink, your eyelashes hit the brow bone and leave marks where it's been.

put on a thin layer of mascara and allow 5 minutes to dry. then if needed apply another and allow to dry., it should be fine.
also, apply foundation or cream to the eyelids before applying mascara, it makes it easier to wipe off if it still happens.

  • she laq by benefit is amazing. its a makeup sealer and u can use it on ur eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, lips, blusher...anything (dont put it all over ur face though!) it is quite expensive but mine has lasted over 6 months using it most days. the one thing is it changes the appearance of ur makeup, the eyeshadow and eyeliner look more like paint, but i dont mind it

    Source(s):

  • I know the mascara was expensive enough but the only wearing a lash prime, like MAC's will help the mascara to stay. Otherwise you will have to buy another mascara, or just try to return it and tell them the reason why...you should not pay so much for something that will smudge.

This is the link to MAC's lash primer.

    http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/spp.…
  • After you have applied it wait for about 10 seconds before blinking properly, this will give it time to dry .. if your talking about just through the day.. buy a cheap but goodish waterproof mascara just to put over the top, this should stop it smudging! :)

    xx
  • Try letting it dry between layers when putting it on, or even gently closing your eyes for 5 minutes.
Have a word with their rep on the make-up counter where you bought it, or a big branch of Boots/department store where they sell it.
  • Try to let your eyelashes dry before blinking or moving your eyes up and down. Probably sounds weird but this is when you get those lash lines on your brow

    Source(s):

  • buy a better water proof mascara....or have you tryed putting a clear mascara over the top....have never tried it but i could be like nail varnish creating a stonger layer

    try it :)
  • let each coat dry fully before opening your eyes wide. put clear mascara on top and let that dry aswell.
i woulnt get a new one if it was expensive
  • Most water proof mascara could do the trick.

ANY HAIR OR MAKE UP TIPS???
my eyes are green

(TOOK PIERCINGS OUT)

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

You have very pretty skin, and you look beautiful natural.

If you want, you could get a few pieces of skinny blonde highlights.

Use a real light foundation (as in don't use thick foundation), so that your freckles still show, because they are pretty.

And use a light rose colored blush.

It looks like you have brown or green eyes, so you could go with an eye shadow thats purple.

And for the lips, I would just use a clear lipgloss, because your lip color is pretty.

Good luck!!!

  • Your naturally pretty but the piercings just ruin your whole face!

If they were taken out then i'd suggest

Getting a brown mascara and perhaps just coating your TOP lashes once or twice, just to make your eyes jump out a bit more.
If you wanted to then you could wear a tiny bit of eyeshadow, but if you do keep it minimal and shades of green, gold, browns.

Define your eyebrows, have them waxed or pluck them yourself. They don't help shape your eyes/face at all and they look rather ugly betty style.

A light foundation would make your skin appear smooth (you look like you have pretty good skin anyway) and some touch up of concealer would not go amiss under your eyes either.
Apply some light blusher to your cheeks to define your cheekbones a bit more.

As for the hair. It looks really damaged. I think you should grow out your shorter layers and once they are grown out either have them layered around your face or have a short bob. It's doing no justice at the moment with the colour either. Do you like red? As in ginger or dark auburn. That would look lovely, or a strawberry blonde with some highlights. Just stay away from black/brown

If you don't want to cut it or colour it then straighten it.

I think this kind of hair would suit you

  • I'm glad you took the piercings out, they look terrible!

I suggest growing your hair out and getting a bob or something, but have it the same length or at least don't make the different lengths so obvious.
  • Hey I LOVE LOVE LOVE Peircings but they just dont look right on you a nice nose stud would of looked alot better yeah well

foundation to make your skin look smoother a bit of eyeliner on bottom some mascara and if you want a cool rock chic goth/emo look some nice eyeliner on top

    x
  • Foundation, bronzer, blusher, mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow - brown and some plain ole vaseline.
  • I'm glad you took the piercings out :) they dont suit you,

i wud get ur hair cut like raihannas reali short and dark :)

makin i wuld stay lightish with a brown blusher and alot of mascarra :) xo
  • u have a naturall beauty.. u dont need lots of makeup, try to grow ur hair, push it to the back. my makeup suggestion for u is cherry chap stick and maybe a little bit of blush.
  • God those piercing look so bad..I mean they would have looked cute if you put small stud in there eeew.

    coverup.
    EyeLiner.
    Mascara.
    Neutral eye shadow.
  • THANK GOD U TOOK THEM OUT
u could grow ur hair so its not as choppy. get a fringe maybe. were some foundation and blusher. lipstick and eyeliner and mascara.

Do u no if this foundation is good?

Hey, I have oily, spotty, shiny skin and have been looking on the boots website for a good, yet affordable foundation. is -Rimmel Lasting Finish Mineral Foundation any good? Does it make your skin matte?
thanks x

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

yeah, my skin is oily and i use this and its the only drugstore foundation that will stay on my face for more than 2 hours, but, make sure you set it with a powder, then it should stay matte all day, and if you have very oily skin, just go with the rimmel stay matte x

the rimmel lasting finish, lasts on me for about, 6 - 7 hours, but keep in mind that most foundations dont even last 1 - 2 hours on my face

  • Maybe you could try Benefit, they give free make up lessons wich you can book online and they tell you what make up is good for you.
There is usually a Benefit in most Debenams stores.
I went to one and they told me what foundation to use, although the make up is expensive.

    Source(s):

  • Try Ethelaustin for good makeup like bourjois at really cheap prices like £1 i go there before boots and superdrug all the time. Maybe yu should use a pigment like from Barry M and dab it on your lips and put vaseline then lipcote over the top. i havent tried this but i've heard pigment would work. The dazzle dust if you don't know what i mean.

Mostly for putting on eyeshadow and eyeliner etc.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Mac, Bobbi Brown or Nars burshes are the best in my opinion but are expensive, retailing at £15-£50 per brush.

If you don't want to spend so much Crown Brushes are great (search google for their website) and really cheap. Also good as The Body Shop and Ruby & Millie at Boots.

What makeup should i use i have brown eyes and blonde hair ?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

It depends on your skin tone, but brown tones and very soft pink would look good with your hair and eye color (think chocolate and strawberry: those two colors work really well together!) Nudes also work well.

  • We need a picture. Your skintone, shade of hair, facial features, etc are important too.

I'm blonde with dark olivey green eyes and I tend to wear black eyeliner (a lot of professionals disagree with it and reccomend a softer brown but I like the stark contrast personally as my eyes are my favourite feature), black mascara, faint blush, neautral eyeshadow (beige with brown on the lower lids) and sort of neutral lipsticks (a tiny bit darker than nude shades) for a day look.

Stay away from pinks (except in blush) unless you want to look like a barbie, that rule goes for all blondes IMO.

For night looks you can experiment with some deeper colours for lipsticks, if you're really brave try red. But no orangey red, more towards burgundy. Eyeshadows can be any colour really, I tend to choose depending on the outfit :). No matter what your colouring is though never over enhance both the eyes and the lips. You have got to pick one of these to stand to stand out or else it looks way too much. Either vibrant eye makeup or vibrant lips.
  • Go to http://mgarland.mymarkstore.com and click on the link that says "Shades of you" and it will tell you what colors go could with you! Also, if you order $25 or more on the website you can get FREE shipping. The products are excellent and you will love the colors!
  • Purple! it will make brown eyes pop! i promise! not too much or it will look fake but just a bit on the eyelid and come down a little bit around your eyes, it will look fantastic on you!

    hope i helped!

  • if u put them in your suitcase it is no rpoblem. But if you want to carry them in your hand luggage, you have to put them in the plastic zip bags that they provide at the entrance to transit (don't use your own, use their ones), otherwise they might take them away.
  • If they are small enough put them in a clear ziplock bag.

Eyeliner problems......?

Resolved Question

Eyeliner problems......?

Ok, so i've got really really dark eyes, that look black and seem to stand out quite a lot against my pale skin. So i thought that by wearing black eyeliner, they'd look less dark compared to the eyeliner, only i made it worse. My eyes ended up looking even darker and kinda scary.
I've tried white/silver eyeliner but it makes my eyes look weird and kinda small so i just wanted to ask what eyeliner color would suit my eyes.
Thanx

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

I think color will have an impact, but I think the way you apply the eyeliner is what we need to focus on. If you want your eyes to look big but less stark against black eyeliner then I suggest only lining the top lid with a brown color. A pencil or cream eyeliner might work good on the top because you can draw in the line then blend it with a sponge or your finger. I don't know if you would like that look, but it may help. Adding eyeliner at the bottom of the lid will make the eyes stand out a lot, but that seems to be what you don't want. If you do want to add eyeliner to the bottom lid I suggest something light brown and start drawing the line from the outside corner of the eye and stopping halfway so you don't line the whole bottom lid. You can even purchase a powder liner that you apply like a eyeshadow. Sometimes that works well depending on the look you are going for. I hope this helps!

Help. My face is shiny. Help girlsssss.?

Resolved Question

Help. My face is shiny. Help girlsssss.?

my face is oily and i get spots, blackheads and everything. i went to my doctor and got tablets for them. but they helped a bit but not 100% clear. i cleanse tone and moisturise my skin every morning and night. yet my skin is still really oily and shiny by break time in school. I wear foundation and have to keep reapplying it so i don't look shiny but then i just look orange. Help please. :)

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

It sounds like you are cleansing well but you don't want to over irritate by cleansing too much. You didn't say which type of toner you use but I believe toner dries out the skin a lot and to use it every day might not be a good idea. I would use a gentle cleanser and very light moisturizer because it sounds like you have enough oil! You don't want to add to it. Do not use any cleanser or lotion with oil in it. Make sure is water based. When you get oily in the day try using an oil mattifier or oil absorbing sheets. Don't apply more makeup unless its just a little powder on your nose. The more makeup the more oil you get. Also see if you can find a makeup made for very oily skin. If you continue to have break outs and you have tried the medication and topical ointment then I would suggest seeing your dermatologist again. I had bad acne for many years and took medication and used all sorts of creams/cleansers but to no avail. I ended up having to go on Acutane which worked wonders for me. Its very harsh and it must be taken carefully and under dermatologist care. Also people mention steaming your face. You could do that by simmering pot of water on the stove and then putting your face over the pot. Of course, be careful so you don't burn your face! There are good clarifying masks you can get from department stores, but keep in mind that using too many products on your face can be a problem.

  • Maybe you are using too heavy of a moisturizer and too often. I would use the thicker one at night and a light lotion in the morning. Your cleaning routine is good, morning and night. Never go to bed with makeup on.Also, I would suggest a powder foundation opposed to liquid. Same coverage but without the oil. Also, watch you hair products, they ca also make you break out.Keep your hair off of your face and cover your face if you use any type of sprays. Watch what you eat, stay away from soda and fried foods including chips.

Buy make up that is for oily skin or combonation skin
  • Foundation will make it worse so cut down on the foundation trust me x

Try Natural Collection Pressed Powder, its only like £2 or something and its really good, cuts shinyness down completly.

What cleanser/Toner/Moistuiser areyou using becuase its probably wrong for your skin: I know clinique is expensive but maybe give that a go becuase it is amazing trust me x My mum got me some and it got rid of all my spots :) x
  • Don't put so much foundation on, that'll make it worse. I find that using talc powder works for me when my face gets shiny, it stays on all day and is cheap and simple :) Just apply some of that every morning. It adapts to your shade so there's no risk of orangeness :)
  • try applying loose translucent face powder available from all good chemists with a make up brush over your foundation, also you could try and steam your skin to clear blocked pores the facial steamer is sold in places such as argos , maybe someone could buy you one for christmas.
  • you should google Dinair Airbrush Makeup...its amazing!!! It covers everything and makes my skin look flawless! Its all water based so its not bad for ur skin...ive been using t for the past 2 years and i LOVE it..they have this stuff u can put under ur makeup that absorbs and gets rid of oil as its produced...anywho, hope i helped..=)
  • Don't moisturise! Moisturisers will make your skin even more oily. I only use moisturiser in the evening so my face isn't so shiny in the morning. Or you can find a non-greasy moisturiser!
  • i think its because you do the cleansing routine twice a day when you should only be doing it once, only do it in the morning and also use clean and clear shine control
  • Try Clean & Clear blotting paper to remove oil, dirt, and apply powder foundation not liquid foundation, use loose powder after that.
  • Many beauty supply stores, such as Sally's, carry little packets of rice paper sheets for this purpose. I have never used them myself, but they are supposed to absorb the oil as you rub them over your face.
  • From most beauty places you can buy little sheet for quite cheap.

i think they are like rice paper but they really work :)
  • Use a power foundation instead

Scar concealing help?

Resolved Question

Scar concealing help?

Hi, I had a mole removed and apparently it's going to take months for the 'scar' the procedure left to heal and become completely skin coloured and flat. The doctor said I could use makeup to conceal it but I don't know which to buy.
I'm a guy, and it's a noticeable place on my face, which has facial hair, making it even more difficult to conceal. It is also VERY SLIGHTLY raised... I tried some concealer stick thing but it doesn't really work unless you put a lot on, and then it becomes obvious I have concealer on!

The scar is light brown in colour and about 0.6 / 0.7mm in size. Any ideas?

Also, I was thinking about Dermablend because they have been designed with scars etc in mind... But there are 21 shades to choose from and I don't know what to get. (They are expensive and I don't want to waste money....). I have pretty light skin.

Please be quick with answers... Thanks a lot.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

James,

Demablend is a great product. You'll need to go to Macy's or any high end store and they will match the product for you. I'm African-American and had tiny pinhead size moles removed by my medical provider and that was a BIG mistake. I have scarring along my neck and chest whereby nothing but a turtle neck will cover the ugly scarring. Dermablend is expensive and does not smear when wet...now I have to use it the rest of my life. Good luck!

  • Go to a mall and ask the cosmetic person which Dermablend cover is best for you. They will try the colors on you there and will give you the right one. If you don't like it you can always return it. If you have a problem going to the cosmetic counter by yourself take your sister, cousin or mother. But it really is no big deal guys buy things there all the time... good luck and make sure you keep a good sunscreen on the scar at all times.
  • hi i dont know about scar concealing make up but have you heard of a product bio oil ? My sis had an operation and was left with a scar from her chest to her bellybutton (she had to get 28 staples) she has been using bio oil for a few months and it has REALLY faded!

    check out their site

    http://www.bio-oil.com/en/uses.

    good luck :D
  • Dermablend is excellent, and if you go that route, ask the store employees if anyone can match you. They will be more than willing to do that for you, as well as teach you how to apply it.
  • Hi James!

Since your concealing a pretty heavy imperfection, you would want to invest in a good one. If you are willing to go up to a MAC counter at your local shopping center, then ask to be match for what ever skin tone you are and they will provide you with a good concealer, you can even ask for further suggestions.

Or you can try COVER FX, it is a little pricey but they do specialize in skin conditions. It can be purchased at Sephora. Or make up forever's concealers are also great. This can also be purchased at Sephora. But again, my recommendations are a bit on the high end area, so if you are willing to pay for a good concealer, please take them into consideration.

And it'd be a lot easier if you have a female friend to personally help you out while you look around for a good concealer.

    Good luck! :)

Instead of trying to use highlights and lowlights in tradition places, make your eyeshadow more like a gradient with the darkest at your lash line and the lightest under your brow. Don't try to work around a crease you don't have.

  • Its not a good idea,to use dishwasher sponges on your face...it could damage it. Your better off just buying make-up sponges. There really cheap, like you could get a whole bag for like 2 or 3 pound or something. Your blush isnt prob working to its best becos your using a sponge. Blush brushes are really cheap to,i would sugest getting the right brushes for the make-up insead of the cheap way out.

  • Normal dish sponges or shower sponges aren't great for make-up. The actual make-up sponges are the best, and you can pick some up in the 2Euro shop (or pound shop or dime store or whatever applies) or even in Boots.
  • Dont use a washing sponge ...are you mad? You could damage your skin.
Just use a cheap powder puff that u can find anywhere to put on blusher/powder. and a cheap foundation sponge for your liquid foundation.

I really like the Naturals Collection stuff. It's inexpensive, and it isn't bad. I have a few eyeshadows and they're grand, and the liners and lipsticks are fine too! =)

Most of the stuff I buy is Bourgeois. It's not the most expensive, for an eyeshadow it's about eight euro, but it'll last a long time! I have one which has lasted for about three years and has been barely worn away, and the colour is still has vibrant and easy to use as ever. The eyeliners are particularly good as well, but if you're an oily skin person (like me) I find putting a little eyeshadow of a similar shade over the liner works a treat =)
As for foundations, I find that Maybelline is the best, especially the Dream Matte Mouse collection. There's a wide range of shades, and they are so easy to use and remove.

Hope I helped!

  • Hiee, i bought it 4 the same reason as you :)
I bought the concealer, foundation and pressed powder
I love the concealer it blends really easily and covers really well and the pressed powder really sets and keeps your foundation lasting longer. But the foundation didn't do anything for me! It just coloured my face, it didn't cover anything? And i NEED a foundation to cover my skin..so the foundation isn't for me. But i really recommend all the rest of their products!

maybeline dream satinfoundation is amazing and really light on the skin, buying a more expensive one will be good last longer and will contain less filling ingredients such as talc

  • hi. im pretty much the same as u, i needed make up urgent and went for the natural collection cos of its price and its brill.. i get all my make up from their collection, bar my mascara, which i usually get a dearer one, but when u save so much on all the other products u get from their collections, it doesnt really matter when u have to spend a few extra pennies..well recommend the natural collection from boots :)

your face can be considered between oval and heart-shaped. A lot of heart-shaped faces tend to be squarish [wide at jaws], while yours isn't.
